Michael is recognized as one of the leading institutional investors of all time with a career spanning nearly four decades. He is currently Managing Member of the New York-based family office MFP Investors LLC; and Managing Partner of MFP Partners, L.P. He is also the President of The Price Family Foundation, Inc. Prior to that, Michael was Chairman of the Board of Franklin Mutual Advisers and Franklin Mutual Series Fund. He had been associated with both entities and their predecessor organizations since 1975. He began his career in finance as a research assistant at Heine Securities Corp, the investment advisor to the Mutual Series funds (previously known as Mutual Shares Fund). After holding various roles, he ultimately became President and CEO at Heine, serving in this role from 1988 to 1996. After significantly growing the value of the mutual funds he managed, he sold the firm to Franklin Resources in 1996 and served as CEO, President and Chairman of the Board of the adviser and the fund until 1998. In addition to serving as a Board director of Liquidnet Holdings, Michael is also on the Investment Advisory Council Member to the Florida State Board of Administration and on Boards for Jazz at Lincoln Center, Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics and Cache Inc. Michael earned his bachelor’s degree in 1973 from the University of Oklahoma. In 1999 the University of Oklahoma honored him with a Doctor of Humane Letters.
